The League of Legends World Championship will continue this weekend with the Group Stage. Whether you watched the previous games or not, here you'll find all the information about the Play-In meta.

LoL Worlds 2019 — Focus on the Play-In meta

If you want to find interesting and reliable statistics about the Play-In stage of the League of Legends World Championship, you can consult them on gol.gg. The champions below had a very high pick/ban rate during the Play-In stage. Here is a typical composition representative of the Play-In meta in these World Championships so far.

Note: All Worlds matches are being played on Patch 9.19.

The AAA Team

Renekton

Top/Mid

Renekton has been present at Worlds for several seasons now. The buffs he has recently received make him even more dangerous — enough to destroy most scaling toplaners and midlaners. His power spike comes in the early-to-mid game, fulfilling the role of frontline and carry at the same time. Oh, he and can also splitpush.

Lee Sin

Jungle

Like Rek'Sai, Elise or Gragas, Lee Sin is a very good jungler at the beginning of the game, capable of punctuating the game by linking ganks and objectives. His ultimate is a very good tool for unlocking certain situations. As soon as he runs out of breath, Lee Sin moves from the role of carry to that of support, whose goal is to peel for his carry during teamfights.

Syndra

Mid/ADC

Syndra's recent buff didn't go unnoticed! Even if ADCs have returned to the Worlds stage this year, Syndra plunges them all into turmoil. The strength of this pick lies in its flexibility to be played in midlane as well as in botlane — this character allows you to push the lane very quickly, giving your team the ability to apply more control over the map. Her wrestling potential and burst are fatal to any carry...

Xayah

ADC

Xayah has an impressive scaling (especially when she is accompanied by Rakan). Her kit allows her to survive the assault of several assassins like Leblanc or Akali, which is a great asset. Xayah and Kai'Sa really outperform the other ADCs, making them priority picks for many draft phases.

Rakan

Support

Alongside Xayah, Rakan has always wreaked havoc, but teams often lacked the opportunity to have the charmer and rebel on their side. Rakan is therefore patient in the lane phase and reveals his full potential during teamfights, becoming a machine with engagement and CC.

In addition to the 5 champions mentioned, other champions are also very present. Pantheon, Qiyana, Leblanc and Akali's pick rates are also... However, it can be seen that these champions are mostly equipped with a big skill-cap and a big snowball potential. In the jungle, most picks are very aggressive at the beginning of the game, which bodes well for a colorful Main Event, hopefully with a very fine final in Paris!

Champions to Watch

Pantheon

Mid/Top

Following his rework this summer, the Spartan did not have great success in solo Q and his win rate was at its lowest for several weeks. Nevertheless, after several adjustments, the champion was able to find his place in the Rift. In this 2019 World Championship, Pantheon is undoubtedly the most feared champion of the game. His ability to temporize fights by ignoring all the damage and to move very quickly from one point on the map to another makes him a formidable champion — a bit like Lissandra and Galio last year. Pantheon was picked only once during the Play-In because he was banned all the other games. He can therefore be described as a Pick or Ban champion (100% pickrate).

Qiyana

Mid/Jungle

The very last champion to have appeared in the Rift quickly seduced professional players. Her high skill-cap and adaptability make Qiyana powerful in many situations, and her ultimate ability is a major asset when fighting for neutral objectives. Very difficult to control, Qiyana is much more banned than played.

What about you? Which are the champions that left you a mark on after the Play-in phase?
