The Group Stage of the 2021 Mid-Season Invitational is ready to go

The League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational, set to kick off in Iceland starting May 6th, now has all the twelve teams that will be competing locked in. Last weekend, the final regions rounded up their competition, crowning their seasonal champions.

Two teams hoisted their regional trophy on Saturday. Istanbul Wildcats, who finished the regular Split in second place and was one of the favorites to take the title, had little trouble dealing with 1907 Fenerbahçe in the grand finals of the Turkish league. A familiar face will return to the international stage as representatives from the CIS region: Unicorns of Love overcame a couple of challenging weeks to send opponnents CrowCrowds home. It will be the third consecutive time Unicorns of Love represents the region on the international stage.

The four final leagues found their champions on Sunday. In the LPL, RNG brushed off FunPlus Phoenix with relative ease, finding their way to the Mid-Season Invitational stage, on which they prevailed in 2018. PSG Talon had an even easier time making their way to the top, disposing of Beyond Gaming with a clean 3-0 in the grand finals of the PCS.

GAM Esports will have the honor of representing the VCS on the international stage again, after the region had to miss out on Worlds 2020 due to COVID-19 measures imposed by the Vietnamese government. The CBLoL was the final team to crown a champion, rounding up the lineup for MSI. paiN Gaming, who ended the regular Split in the middle of the standings, completed their run through the bracket and took down favorites Vorax.

The Mid-Season Invitational kicks off on May 6th, and will be held in Reykjavik, Iceland, with all teams attending in-person.
