After announcing that League Play would be arriving before the launch of Season Two, Black Ops Cold War developer Treyarch has finally unveiled details surrounding the return of the competitive playlist along with when it will be arriving into the game.

League Play has been a heavily requested feature by the competitive community, who want to get their fix of competitive action alongside a dedicated ranking system.

Here's everything we know about League Play.

League Play Release Date

In a recent blog post, Treyarch revealed that League Play will be arriving on February 8th.

What is League Play?

League Play is a playlist that utilizes the competitive game modes and features a ranking system that ranks players based on their in-game performances. The more wins you earn, the higher rank you will earn.

The blog post also detailed that League Play will be structured in a similar way to Black Ops 4's League Play mode. If it is based on Black Ops 4, there will be a total of five skill divisions to be placed in:

  • Competitor - Top 50% of players
  • Advanced - Top 20%
  • Expert - Top 15%
  • Elite - Top 13%
  • Master - Top 2%

Once the rank has been determined, players are likely to be placed into a division of players in the same division.

With the game focused on competitive play, the three modes used for CDL competition will be used.

  • Control
  • Hardpoint
  • Search and destroy

The rules for competitive CoD change on a regular basis and in order to keep League Play in-line with the rules of the CDL, it is likely that League Play will feature numerous changes as the season progresses.
