Galactus, the Devourer of Worlds, is on his way to Apollo Island in Fortnite. While patch 14.60 has been implemented recently, dataminers went through the files with a fine-tooth comb. We can now say that there will be a closing event for Chapter 2 Season 4. Leakers are even talking about 1.2 GB of files, just for the event.
Donald Mustard, Creative Director at Epic Games, said a few days ago that it will be "the biggest event they’ve ever done".
A former ally of Thor, Galactus will be the focus of attention on D-Day. If you've played the game recently, you may have noticed a silhouette in the sky that seemed to be heading straight for us. It's our big bad guy, determined to destroy our playground.
In update 14.60, Galactus will appear right next to us, directly in the main menu.
Its silhouette will probably rise right beside the island itself, close to Coral Castle if one refers to the holographic table.
An event where YOU will be the hero?
The event in question will be called "The Devourer of Worlds", and will be described as "Defend the Island to save all Reality!". It's noted that we will be directly involved in the unfolding of the event. A great first, since Fortnite events used to keep us as mere spectators.
What if this time we were going to fight a common enemy instead of watching in awe?
It must be said that with the new superpowers regularly added to the game during Season 4, we would have enough to defend ourselves — even against an enemy as imposing as Galactus.
Epic Games isn't yet at its trial run when it comes to giants with whom it's possible to interact. Most players remember Travis Scott's concert, where the singer, materialized by a titanic avatar, was moving above us.
Epic Games had already opposed us in the past to another great specimen — bad this time. You have to go back to the Fortnitemares of October 2019 to remember it. The publisher had developed a LTM in which dozens of players must jointly face the Storm King, a huge monster that took you a while to bring down.
It's clear that Epic Games has the technical abilities to produce a highly interactive one-time event, where players will have to fight an opponent live. The fight against Galactus may well be the ultimate proof of this.
Let's prepare and reread our Marvel comics, because if it's up to the rest of us to defend Apollo Island, the shock promises to be exhilarating!
