Tired of losing control of your character on Nintendo Switch games? You are not alone. Millions of users are affected by the joy-con drift.

I don't present it to you anymore: the cruel, the famous, the annoying Joy-Con Drift. By reading these few lines, I'm sure you've already heard of it and even worse, you've already suffered the consequences when you wanted to use your Nintendo Switch . In truth, this problem has been present on the controllers since its launch but especially started to be talked about when new versions of the console were released. The Switch version 2 or the Lite, all know the Joy-Con Drift. Even pro controllers are affected. In short, a real scourge that affects almost half of users, even in 2022.

Switch: The best-selling Nintendo console of all time

Unveiled for the first time in 2017, the Nintendo Switch immediately won over gamers around the world with its hybrid model that allows you to play both in portable mode and in the living room on TV. Despite the Joy-Con drift, this did not prevent the console from selling like hot cakes from year to year and especially in 2020, when the first confinements linked to Covid-19 had to be put in place. This also matched the release of Animal Crossing New Horizons. However, there is nothing more frustrating than not being able to move your character properly on your island. Following numerous complaints from players, the UFC Que Choisir even got involved, bringing together thousands of testimonials. Nintendo offered a repair service if users returned their Joy-Con still under warranty, but this approach put off most of them. The Japanese company was then accused of planned obsolescence since it continued to produce defective controllers.

Joy-Con drift: the survey that hurts

According to UK consumer group Which?, 40% of Nintendo Switch users report experiencing Joy-Con drift issues. However, of the many customers who experienced a problem with their Joy-Con, only 73% told Nintendo about it.

To overcome this problem, some Internet users have tried to repair, alone, the small joy-con, in particular with the technique of the piece of cardboard. Although it may work in the short term, it is not a permanent solution and not everyone necessarily wants to open their controllers with a special screwdriver, disconnect some wires in order to put a piece of cardboard inside. inside and close everything. In the meantime, the Joy-Con of the Nintendo Switch OLED do not seem to be affected by the problem for the moment. Do not hesitate to tell us in the comments if this is the case for you.
