LoL Season 10 Preseason — Expect new gameplay goals and Rift changes

It's a huge thrill for the 10th anniversary of League of Legends, but the pre-season information is dropping. Riot Games has made this promise: the major changes will be presented during a special edition of "Riot Pls" which will start at 6 PM PST on October 15th.

A few days ago, the studio decided to present us one of the major projects of the pre-season: the evolution of the Summoner's Rift

As Riot Games says so well "Two of League’s greatest strengths are variety and mastery. Variety is one of the true foundations of LoL, where the huge roster of champions creates 824 trillion unique possible matchups—and that’s before runes, items, or Summoner Spells."

Yes, but Riot Games believes that these forces have not been exploited in the fundamental base of the game — the Rift itself. The goal? Make it more interactive, more attractive, and more than just a background image.

  • Variety: The map should create more memorable moments via different environments you don’t see every game. Elemental Dragons already offer this very lightly, but we want to go further and in a way that’s fair for both teams.
  • Mastery: The map should offer more details to play around in both the baseline experience and the not-every-game circumstances we’re creating. Much of SR’s mastery is currently macro-oriented (eg. rotations, objective trading), and we want terrain to support more opportunity for in-combat playmaking.

In short, the map will change... much more. You will need to adapt your playing style to a variety of environmental changes and therefore deepen your knowledge of the map to be as effective as possible.

Although the changes on the map are the most important for this pre-season, small improvements are also expected: support and lethality objects should get changed, a better influence of the upper path and improvements of the jungle are foreseen, dragon buffs and runes should also get impacted.

The 2020 League of Legends pre-season will arrive in November following patch 9.23
