The American organization FaZe Clan took offence with their former player Turner "Tfue" Tenney leaving them suddenly a few months, despite his contract having several more years to run. After a very public spat between the two sides, FaZe have initiated legal proceedings.
From FaZe Clan's perspective, the contract was not illegal, and consider Tfue's accusations defamatory. They also claim his departure is an abusive breach of his contractual obligations. The team is seeking redress, an injunction prohibiting Tfue from publicly attacking FaZe Clan's image, and a ban on disclosing certain confidential information from his time with the organization.

The dispute will focus on this crucial question: was the initial contract signed between the player and the team illegal? This is what Tfue's lawyers are attempting to demonstrate. If they fail to do so, Tfue will find himself in the situation of a contractor who has suddenly refused to honor a contract worth several tens of millions of dollars for the other party. Compensation could be heavy.
What could make this trial even more difficult for Tfue is that during his time at FaZe, he signed advertising partnerships with various major brands — partnerships that would have brought him nearly $20 million. This is income which — according to the now-famous contract — FaZe is entitled to 80% of the total. However, considering its relationship with Tfue as essential — the team had only taken a tiny part of the amount to which it was entitled (a few tens of thousands of dollars).
Today it is claiming the full 80%, a request that would cost Tfue $16 million if the judge rules in the organization's favour.
In an announcement originally teased yesterday, Tyler "Ninja" Blevins has partnered with Microsoft-owned platform Mixer, where he will exclusively stream going forward. This means he will no longer appear on Twitch.
