Do you want to actually do sports while having fun? Here is a selection of the 5 best Switch games to get your whole body moving and getting back in shape little by little.

Nintendo Switch: 5 games to play sports before summer!

If, like me, you really have a hard time imagining that sport can be something you do with joy, in your spare time, then you probably know how difficult it is to motivate yourself to get up from your chair. office, especially when working remotely. Regardless of the way of life in the end, summer is approaching and the return of the sun inevitably gives us a little more desire to move than in winter. Whether you dream of shedding a few pounds , just getting in shape (and stopping getting out of breath climbing three poor stairs), then maybe, like me, you need motivation , a playful click to do a few minutes of physical activity every day.

And that's good: you have to admit that Nintendo is a queen when it comes to sports games, in the literal sense of the term. Here, there's no question of warming up your thumbs on your joysticks to play FIFA or whatever. No. At Nintendo, we do things big and we offer games that allow you to move your whole body. Here's my pick of those sports games that really got me moving.

The unbeatable Just Dance

What could be better than a few songs to move on to burn calories and let off steam? I grant you, Just Dance is still much more fun with friends, but a little solo dance from time to time doesn't hurt. The only problem is that you have to go to the cash register to unlock even more tracks and choreographies, but hey, the basic playlist can be more than enough to have fun for a few minutes a day. The whole thing is to create a little routine of sports games: one or two dances, a run on Ring Fit, a few minutes of boxing and presto, you feel a little better for the rest of the day. Because yes, when you finally understand that sport is much more invigorating than exhausting, then it becomes part of the fun.

  • Just Dance 2022 (but you can take any edition of course)
  • Available on Switch but also Xbox and PlayStation
  • Base price : €59.99

Ring Fit Adventure

This is a game that requires a hell of a budget to be completely honest. That being said, once you have the tools in your hands, you'll understand soon enough why this game is simply the best way to exercise while having fun. Far from being an NSex as they say on the web, I know how to recognize a stroke of genius when I see one and Ring Fit is typically the kind of invention that deserves a detour. When you don't want to play sports, you have to find a way to gamify the thing (that is to say, to make it as if it were a video game). Ring Fit does this very well, with not only a level system where you have to progress like in an RPG to fight monsters and Bosses, collect quest items, improve your character and your skills...

In short, a real game within the game. And I can tell you that after barely 10 minutes, you are out of breath as it requires endurance: you have to run constantly to move forward, do squats or hold in position chair to eliminate monsters, use his arms to suck coins etc...

The game's best addition? A Rhythm mode where you have to compress/pull your hoop with the strength of your arms to hit the musical notes at the right time. A kind of sporty OSU that will even ask you to do a few squats from time to time.

  • Available on Nintendo Switch only
  • Base price : €69.99 (game + accessories)

Nintendo Switch Sports

Far less effective than Ring Fit when it comes to a full-body workout, Switch Sports is more accessible and fun, though. The ability to play solo, two locally or online, is its biggest asset. For the most nostalgic among you, it is above all an opportunity to rediscover Tennis in all its splendor and the Bowling of the time, but also to test new activities such as Chambara (ideal for letting off steam), Volleyball (very technical), Football (to have fun with others on the pitch) and Badminton.

The ranked game system is particularly addictive since you constantly want to play and increase your rank. You can also unlock cosmetics as you progress, with items that change every week. In short, I might as well tell you that I play my few games of tennis every day to try to reach Rank A in the ranking (and unlock this superb unicorn outfit offered by the game.)

  • Available on Nintendo Switch only
  • Base price : €49.99

Fitness Boxing

Unfortunately, I have not yet been able to test the second opus but I am convinced that it is much better than Fitness Boxing, the first of the name. The latter is more than enough for me on my side, if only to let off steam for about twenty minutes, throwing punches (not just any care), in rhythm. Very engaging, you can unlock more and more complex exercises and learn real boxing moves. Just like on Ring Fit, having to type in time with the music makes it much more fun and enjoyable. On the progression side, you can also unlock outfits for your Coach and personalize it, or even stamp your calendar to mark your progress.

This reminds me of Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training. Training your body is good, but maintaining your brain is even better. Especially since it's one of the only games that really takes advantage of the touch screen of the Switch with a stylus specially designed for the occasion. A little mental arithmetic and memory exercises in your routine and your whole body will be really in shape. (Don't forget to drink plenty of water too, and eat 5 fruits and vegetables a day, right.)

Bonus: Pokemon GO

It's certainly not available on the Nintendo Switch, but Pokémon GO remains one of the best mobile games for doing your recommended thirty minutes of walking a day. I admit for my part that I no longer have the same ardor as in 2016 (to do more than 6 kilometers every evening to find Salamèche and Rattata, or even to hit the best sprint of my life because someone will have shouted "DRACOLOSSE!!" in a park), but at least I found the motivation to get out of my house and take over this arena from the Red team. It is only a small kilometer on foot, but at least that allows me to walk regularly.
