One of the best players to ever grace the servers of Rainbow Six Siege has announced he'll no longer be pursuing competitive success. Niclas "Pengu" Mouritzen, until now a member of G2 Esports' roster, has announced that he will retire to focus on content creation.
Pengu rose to prominence as part of PENTA Sports' roster, culminating in a first-place finish in the Six Invitational in 2018. Shortly after, he joined the ranks of G2 Esports, where he remained a stable core of the roster through its various lineup changes.
During his time on G2, Pengu kept raking up titles and other great tournament performances. He won the Six Invitational in 2019, and finished second in the Raleigh Major in that same year. While 2020 was a quiet year for Rainbow Six Siege esports all around, and the year's Invitational did not go G2's way, 2021 was looking up again. In January, Pengu and his team won the finals of the European League.
If his competitive success was not enough to stir the conversation, his in-game stats absolutely were. Pengu ended his career with a kill/death difference of +561, the third-highest score in competitive Rainbow Six Siege's history.
