Spotted by Japanese Twitter user Aibo, an updated description of Final Fantasy VII Remake on the Japanese PlayStation Store seemingly gives away the title's inclusion in March's PlayStation Plus offering.
The description, in Japanese, mentions Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, the updated version announced in last night's State of Play broadcast. However, it also mentions PS Plus:
"PlayStation 4 version of FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE cannot be upgraded to PlayStation 5 version after subscribing to PlayStation Plus and getting it as a free game."
This has now been confirmed via the official Dutch PlayStation Facebook account.
This represents a massive win for PlayStation Plus subscribers, as FF7R is arguably the biggest game to come to the platform to date.
It could also be a clever marketing ploy by Sony, given the Square Enix title's PlayStation exclusivity period is due to end in March. After all, why purchase a game on another platform, when you can receive it for free?
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is a paid addon for PS5 players, and is an enhanced version of the game. It adds a bonus episode featuring Wutai's very own materia hunter, Yuffie, a new difficulty mode that allows players to use classic, turn-based commands, and a long-requested photo mode. There are also several enhancements from a technical standpoint, including lighting, textures and fog effects.
It is due to be released on June 10, 2021.
No word has been given on a potential release on other platforms once the exclusivity period has ended.
