Is the Akimbo attachment too strong in Black Ops Cold War? This is a question the majority of the community has answered with a "yes."
On Reddit, the community is starting to get fed up with Akimbo, particularly when equipped on the Magnum pistol. To show how deadly it is, our French colleagues did a little test against bots to test how powerful the attachment is on all Black Ops Cold War pistols.
The Magnum
To start, we equipped Akimbo onto the Magnum which is currently regarded as the most overpowered.
We already know that the Magnum can be effective in mid-range engagements. With two of them equipped, it is extremely easy to eliminate a player with two well-timed shots.
After a short test at different ranges, the magnums display incredibly high damage output in close and mid-range scenarios but does fall short at longer distances.
1911
The second pistol we tested is the 1911 and from the outset, they are inferior to the magnum by a significant margin.
Two simultaneous shots make the enemy incredibly weak but do not result in a kill even while hitting the target above the chest. Two shots from each pistol are enough to score the kill.
The 1911 is a weapon that's fairly balanced and is certainly effective in close-quarters combat. When used at longer distances, it is almost impossible to deal a significant amount of damage.
Diamatti
The final pistol put to the test is the Diamatti, the original weapon that put the Akimbo attachment on the map
Just like the first two pistols, we tried using the pistols at different ranges to determine the effectiveness of them. At long range, it is impossible to hit the enemy because of the bullet spread while at medium range, some of the shots do make contact but deal a minimal amount of damage. At close-range, Akimbo Diamattis are still devastating despite receiving nerfs.
The Diamatti is a weapon that does contain some form of bullet spread when attempting to engage with a target from a distance, but when up close and personal, the Diamatti is almost unbeatable in any close-range situation.
The verdict
Not all Dual Wield pistols are devastating. Here's a short breakdown of how each one performs
- The 1911 is very well-balanced, offering a margin of error that will leave players vulnerable to being eliminated by an opponent.
- The Diamatti's bullet spread makes it difficult to control at longer distances but in close-quarters, it is deadly.
- The Magnum is very strong when used in mid-range and close-quarters engagements. When fired simultaneously, it all but guarantees a one-shot kill.
On February 1st, Activision posted a blog detailing all the new features that will be available in the February 4th update.
