In line with the minimalist style introduced by the LEC and LCK, the North American LCS is changing its look for the coming year.

A new, minimalist logo, new font, new color schemes - the League of Legends Championship Series will have a very different look for the 2021 season. In fact, even the name is changing, as the League Championship Series will now be referred to as the League of Legends Championship Series.

This rebranding is much more than it looks. The North American league does more than imitate the LEC and the LCK: it marks the end of an era, and concludes a chapter in its history.

In the wake of the retirement of Yiliang "Doublelift" Peng and Søren "Bjergsen" Bjerg, it was time to put the past behind and make way for the future — and this is precisely the message that this trailer, published on the LCS social networks, seeks to communicate.

In fact, the trailer is largely devoted to the North American rookies of who have shone over the past year. All in all, the North American league is doing more than just changing its look, it's undergoing a profound transformation. No more international transfers, now the spotlight is on regional talent — or at least that's the message conveyed by this trailer.

It takes a lot of courage to convey this kind of message after an offseason full of imports, such as Cloud9 — who paid $5 million to G2 Esports for Luka "Perkz" Perković.
