Crimsix is a legend, but what is the story behind one of the first competitive players for both Halo and COD?

Crimsix: The winningest Call of Duty player in the world

Ian "Crimsix" Porter, a professional Call of Duty player for the Dallas Empire, is the winningest Call of Duty player ever. He's a 37-time COD champion with 3 World Championships and more than $1 million in winnings under his belt.

He's getting more and more famous, and at just the right time. Esports are more popular than ever and the final match of the 2020 Call of Duty League world championship attracted about 332,000 viewers. Porter will play as the main AR for Dallas Empire in the 2021 season, which is expected to be even bigger thanks to the return of fan-favorite teams 100 Thieves and OpTic Gaming.

His Beginnings

Porter started his professional gaming career in Halo: Reach at the age of 16 during 2008's Major League Gaming pro circuit. He won a total of $3,250 playing Halo: Reach and placed in the top ten four times from 2011 to 2012. Later that year, Halo: Reach was replaced by Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, marking his transition to COD.

He joined compLexity Gaming with teammates ACHES, FEARS, and TeePee in December 2012. Their win streak was one of the most successful of any team up to that point. they triumphed at MLG Columbus in 2013 and used a slightly different roster to win the Call of Duty Championship in 2014.

Porter's success attracted attention. His contract was bought out by the legendary OpTic Gaming following the victory. History repeated itself in 2017 when Porter led his team to another Call of Duty Championship title.

The Call of Duty League (CDL) switched to a city-based franchise model in 2019, resulting in Porter's move to the Dallas Empire. The Empire went on to win the CDL, bringing Crimsix's record to three world championship crowns.

Accomplishments

The CDL named Porter the postseason MVP, but he's racked up wins and accomplishments for years. His current 37 major tournament victories make him the most successful player of all time. He's one of only three to win a championship ring three times, alongside James "Clayster" Eubanks and Damon "Karma" Barlow.

He's won five back-to-back ESWC championships, and he's one of two players (along with Clayster) to win more than a million dollars in prize money.

Personal Life

Porter is known as an opinionated player who isn't afraid to speak his mind. He recently spoke out against the practice of professional players not getting to keep the majority of their prize money from winning tournaments.

He also appeared on the Eavesdrop Podcast hosted by Hector “H3CZ” Rodriguez, and said he had a falling out with former teammates Seth “Scump” Abner and Matt “FormaL” Piper over the OpTic Gaming loss to 100 Thieves in the 2019 CDL Championship.

Porter was upset that Abner didn't include him in discussions about teaming up the following year.

In May, Porter announced that he was engaged.

With all of this attention, Porter and the CDL are looking to have their biggest year yet.
