Alongside VIP Escort, Combined Arms: Assault is the second new game mode coming as part of the beta for Black Ops Cold War.

Black Ops Cold War Beta: Combined Arms Assault game mode

We already knew the Combined Arms: Domination game mode where it was possible to jump into a range of vehicles in order to turn the Armada and Crossroads maps upside down.

Combined Arms: Assault shares similarities to Domination that was available during the Black Ops Cold War alpha, with much larger 12v12 maps to host the action.

Combined Arms: Assault is a larger version of the classic 6v6 game mode, Hardpoint. The match takes place with two teams of 12 spread across the map to fight for control of a central neutral capture zone.

Once this objective is captured, the next one opens deeper into enemy territory. The first team to successfully infiltrate and capture the enemy's final area wins.

Lead designer Matt Scronce says this game mode is " an exhilarating large-scale experience where both teams focus on a single moving objective. Whether it's loading Crossroads' radar station onto a snowmobiling or storming the enemy ship in Armada, Combined Arms: Assault is where you'll find some of the most intense and cinematic moments in Black Ops multiplayer. "

Once an area is captured, the match timer stops to reset the teams and allowing teams to prepare for the next offensive play.

The match is won when a team has captured the final area at the end of the linear progression of the objectives. If neither team succeeds in capturing the enemy's final area, the round will end and the teams will play a single overtime round with only the central objective in play. The first team to capture the area will win the round and the game.
