Housing is a big part of Final Fantasy XIV and lots of players want to get their own home. However with the current health crisis the auto-destruction of inactive players' houses have been stopped so that players unable to play during extended periods of time could still play the game.
This change is of course a good thing for players that can't play the game right now, but also means players that quit the game for good still have a plot in the housing system, blocking someone from getting their own house or FC house.
As explained in this thread, while directly adding more housing will take more time but we should get more plots before Patch 5.4.
