Waffles has been released! This is good news for the American player who regularly participates in competitive Fortnite. The community had been very supportive and should also be happy to see his ban cancelled. However, the road has not been easy. It seems that Waffles only gained ground by taking Epic Games through legal action.
Back to the case: an unfair punishment
During the last FNCS , Waffles was in his last qualification game. However, he did not have the opportunity to play it entirely. He has indeed come across a bug in the game: it multiplies the same item to infinity. Caused by an exploit of the boats, this known issue had been pointed out by Epic Games which had planned heavy penalties for players abusing the glitch.
However, in the case of Waffles, he did not plan to use this bug. It even seems that it was the corpse of the culprit who caused Waffles to suffer the bug. Collateral victim of the actions of another player and the faulty coding of the game, he had however been coldly punished by Fortnite's anti-cheat system.
While defending his innocence, Epic Games did not accept to change the sanction at first. The Support team explained in that it was not possible to go against the anti-cheat system. With this sad outcome, Waffles announced the end of his competitive career and the community quickly reacted on social medias. The company looked really harsh towards a victim rather than focusing on cheaters and the phenomenon of soft-aim .
A happy ending thanks to an external boost
Waffles can be happy now that he's no longer banned. He had to go the hard way, threatening Epic Games with legal action. The player was able to count on the unexpected support of CarterPusle. This esport agency, which works with many lawyers, assists players in their legal affairs in the industry (negotiations, legal evaluations, sponsorship contracts, etc.).
CarterPulse came directly to Waffles to offer help. Together, they contacted Epic Games asking for the sanction to be canceled.
Soon after, Waffles was "released". He will therefore be authorized to compete in the next FNCS if he wishes.
