LoL: Focus on the 5 major moves of the Summer Split

The Mid-Season is coming to an end, and soon all leagues will resume all over the world with their respective Summer Splits. However, things will be a bit different as several teams made big changes to their rosters...

LoL: Focus on the 5 major moves of the Summer Split

Usually devoted to minor changes and slight adjustments to rosters, far from the excitement of the off-season, the transfer period between the two splits of the League of Legends competitive schedule is sometimes the theaters of major upheavals.

Season 10 made no exception to that rule as all the major regions have been marked in recent weeks by quite surprising moves...

Caps and Perkz roleswapping — again

Their dance has become almost difficult to follow. Rasmus "Caps" Borregaard-Winther and Luka "Perkz" Percović exchange their role again for this Summer Split. Should we see that as another trick from G2 Esports or a choice of comfort?

One would be tempted to lean towards the second option. Even if G2 kept its inventiveness and its panache throughout the Spring Split and won hands down by beating Fnatic 3-0 in the grand final, we felt more friability in the gameplay of the Samurais.

Although Perkz performed in the mid lane, Caps experienced difficult games — not to say catastrophic. The young Danish prodigy has been very vocal for his uneven KDA. A pitfall that Perkz had not known to the contrary as ADC in 2019.

With this change of position, G2 should appear more stable this summer, without ceasing to upset the meta in almost all their games...

Vitality finally in place

Spring Split was one of the most complicated in the history of Vitality. Promising on paper, the LEC and LFL beehive groups ran into visa problems very early on. To compensate for this administrative imbroglio, the LEC roster had to rely on the players from their Academic team, involved in the French league (LFL).

Allowing their game plans to rest too often on Cabochard, the bees buzz and spin on the summoner's fault without convincing, for lack of being able to organize themselves properly upstream.

For this summer, Vitality has revised its copy. Finally stable, the team had time to train and get ready. Revamped and strengthened, Team A of Vitality has a better chance of staying in the race.

Uzi, the warrior's rest

It was the announcement that hit the headlines at the dawn of the resumption of the LPL. The most famous Chinese player, Jian "Uzi" Zihao, is retiring after eight years of fierce competition at the highest level. Like the greatest athletes in the world, these are injuries that, day after day, will have taken the edge of his career. According to the doctors, Uzi has accumulated fatigue and micro-injuries to the arms, which prohibit him from prolonged play sessions.

The medical recommendations forced Uzi to take a long break during the Spring Split.

Are we going to miss Uzi in LPL? Surely, especially since marksmen have rarely been so strong in the metagame of League of Legends.

Smeb, the return of the king

Quite absent from kt Rolster during Spring Split 2020, Smeb is preparing to make a triumphant return in LCK. Worn out by the high level, the toplaner had voluntarily placed himself on the bench of the Korean team. Even if kt Rolster ended the Spring Split honorably (4th in the regular season), it lacked a little something to create the feat. This little something could well be Song "Smeb" Kyung-ho, especially since he's joining his comrade in arms Son "Ucal" Woo-hyeon for this summer split, with whom he became champion of Korea in 2018.

Doublelift back home

The American ADC found itself at the heart of a real soap opera at the end of the spring segment. In early March, Yiliang "Doublelift" Peng confesses a drop in motivation which will lead him straight onto the bench of Team Liquid. He was immediately replaced by Edward "Tactical" Ra. In April, Team Liquid is ready to cede the player's contract, author of a disappointing season from all angles.

Doublelift finally signed with TSM, the team with which he has accomplished the most beautiful achievements of his record. This homecoming seems saving for the veteran ADC, who finds there Bjergsen, another superstar of the team and legend of the midlane across the Atlantic.
