Valorant is the new FPS from Riot Games, released on June 2. Being a very competitive game, the publisher has introduced a community code to keep a healthy in-game environment.

Valorant: a community code for players

Valorant, just out of its beta phase, wishes to moderate and keep a healthy gaming environment thanks to a community code. Riot Games has put it back in the spotlight at the official release even though it was already in effect at the time of beta. It appears on your screen the first time you log in, and after reading it, you have to accept it to be able to play.

In the community code, there are about ten "values" ranging from team cooperation to the prohibition of cheating and the respect for other players. These are rules similar to those of proper social conduct.

It's nevertheless necessary to make a reminder when we know that another Riot Games game is known for its in-game toxicity, League of Legends, and that some inappropriate behaviors have already been noticed during the beta phase.

In addition, the publisher also presented all of its sanctions for offending players. "If you violate the expectations described here, we may restrict your privileges or access to features in our games. Restrictions serve to shield the community from future disruption, and provide an opportunity to reflect on the behavior that led to the restriction. We strive to provide a path to reform, but not at the expense protecting the rest of the community. We also strive to restrict based on the disruption caused, and to avoid action that is needlessly punitive or harsh."

These sanctions, depending on the seriousness of the misconduct, may be cumulative:

  • Suppression of communications at stake.
  • Prohibition of certain features of the game, such as the competitive mode for example.
  • Restricted access to all social aspects of Riot Games.
  • A temporary or permanent ban on Valorant, or even on all games in the Riot Games universe.

This community code, combined with an auto-banning system is certainly not the miracle solution to solve all issues, but it's already a first step to allow a maximum of players to evolve in a healthy gaming environment.

Valorant will have auto-banning systems

The developers of Valorant make it a point of honor to punish cheaters. Thus, the game will have auto-banning systems as soon as it's released on June 2.
