Twitch adds esports discovery option

Having broadcast most esport events on just about every game for many years now, Twitch has just added an Esports section to its user interface. The opportunity to target content directly if you are a competition lover.

Twitch adds esports discovery option

League of Legends, CS: GO, Overwatch, Fortnite, DotA 2, Call of Duty, and many more. All of these games have been streamed many times on Twitch during their official esports competitions. Twitch has finally made a section dedicated to esports available to its viewers.

How to get there

  • Visit Twitch
  • You will notice that the top menu has been changed, and that an "Esports" button has appeared to the right of the usual Browse.
Millenium
  • And there, a new interface (fairly general in terms of choice) appears. You have direct access to the thumbnails of the main games in progress, and this for totally different styles of play. On the screenshot, we find for example League of Legends, Magic The Gathering, Dota 2, CS: GO, Super Smash bros. Ultimate and Paladins . It's up to you to make your choice by going directly to these matches, or choose to venture into the advanced menus of your favorite game, just above.
  • Note that in this advanced menu, Twitch specifies whether a game has a Live competition, or indicates the date of the last replay.
Millenium
  • Once you have clicked on the game you want to watch through this menu, a new screen will appear, again with several choices. The most watched match (or competition) is highlighted, in the language in which your Twitch is configured. The same broadcast can be found a little below in other languages (here, Japanese, Korean and French).
Millenium
  • Finally, the lowest part of this page lists the replays that Twitch considers relevant , always on the game you have chosen of course. As a bonus, you also have direct access to streams of professional players in the game (the language in which they stream is specified).
Millenium

This is a feature which should prove to be very practical for Twitch users, and even more when all competitions and esports circuits have resumed in a "normal" manner after the coronavirus pandemic. However, you will not find any content for the Overwatch League, the Grandmasters Hearthstone or the Call of Duty League, the rights having been sold to Google for a few months now.
