The Year of the Rat event in Overwatch brings Capture the Flag up to date. With a competitive mode that will last for the duration of the event, it's time to farm your competition points and try to reach Top 500!
The rules are simple: you'll have to get the opponent's flag and bring it back to your base three times. Nothing could be simpler, except that you will also have to prevent the opposing team from reaching your flag. If a player carrying a flag dies, the opposing team can try to retrieve it. Each game is played in 6v6. We can only advise you to divide the roles between attack and defence!
Characters like Lucio or Roadhog will be very important, thanks to the Speed Boost of the first one and the survivability of the second one. Be careful, some of your abilities will make you lose the flag!
The competitive mode adds some rewards, which you can discover below! They are obtained by participating in a minimum of ten games — allowing you to know your ranking and earning some competition points. A tag and a player icon will also be offered!
These competitive games count towards the victories needed for the weekly challenges as well as the three unlockable Arcade loot boxes. All the more reason to take part in this confrontation that will require coordination and game vision to win and climb the leaderboard!
Capture the Flag Blitz
A new mode makes its appearance: Capture the Flag Blitz. Two teams of six players compete in a frantic game to capture the opponent's flag, while defending their own. The principle remains the same, with a few changes:
- The flag pickup is instantaneous.
- The flag-bearer's abilities remain limited.
- To win you will have to capture six flags or have the most at the end of the time limit.
