A gathering skill that will help you hunt down Leather and other key resources, here's all you need to know about Tracking & Skinning in Amazon's New World.

New World: Tracking & Skinning Guide

Tracking & Skinning is one of the Gathering Skills in Amazon's new MMO, New World.

It will help you seek out and obtain key resources that you can turn into Leather and other refined products, and requires you to equip a Skinning Knife.

With plenty of wildlife in Aeternum, you shouldn't find yourself short when levelling your Crafting skills!

Is Tracking & Skinning for me?

If you're looking to increase your level in Leatherworking, Cooking or Armoring, then you're going to need resources refined from Animal Hides. As well as being a bit of a money-spinner, you'll also gain experience while levelling Tracking & Skinning.

To skin a creature you've killed, press the interaction key (default E) when next to the corpse. Be mindful to have a Skinning Knife equipped, and make sure it isn't broken.

If you're running a build that requires Dexterity, you'll get bonuses to your Skinning ability. You'll get this for every 50 points you have in the stat.

  • 50 Dexterity: +10 skinning speed
  • 100 Dexterity: + 20% haste for 3 seconds after skinning
  • 150 Dexterity: -10% decrease in weight of skinned items
  • 200 Dexterity: +10% skinning speed
  • 250 Dexterity: +10% yield when skinning

Tip

If you're playing a class that uses projectiles such as Bow or Musket, don't bother wasting ammo on turkeys or rabbits.

Use a melee weapon instead -- your purse will thank you later!
