Assassin's Creed Valhalla Beginner's guide and tips

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is now available on all platform. To begin your trip to England in good conditions, we suggest you some general tips that will give you a first overview of the possibilities offered by the gameplay. There are a lot of things to do and see, but because you have to get started somewhere, here is our beginner viking guide.

Loot and equipment: a new philosophy

No more weapons and armor loot from Odyssey, in Valhalla you will have to walk around to improve. The rewards are rarer but better highlighted by exploration, they are however very easy to find. If you can no longer increase the power of your weapons or your pieces of armor, it would be fashionable to renew all this by searching the large yellow dots in an area, those with an icon in the form of an assassin.

These chests always contain a piece of equipment, either from a particular set or a new weapon. Be careful, your equipment will have no impact on your power score. For this, you will especially need to spend skill points in the three-branched talent tree.

Where to find the Carolingian Longsword in Assassin's Creed Valhalla

The Carolingian Longsword can be unlocked very quickly in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. We explain where to find it, but also why we think it's a perfect weapon for beginners.

Everything for the power

Three lanes: stealth, melee and ranged, each with dozens of stat boosting points and big active or passive skills at certain waypoints. The entire constellation of points isn't revealed directly, so it's impossible to predict its path, as on a Path of Exiles for example. However, some players have already had a good time with it and the build possibilities can be supplemented with the equipment mentioned above since the sets have dedicated bonuses, an additional reason to go grab them!

Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Skill Tree and Power Level

Here's a small guide dedicated to the skill tree and the overall progression in Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

The colony

More than just comfort, the colony is a central part of the AC Valhalla storyline. Its progress is made as and when the sites that you undertake: as soon as you can, build the office of those whom one doesn't see in order to access the complete picture of the order, but also to the emblematic leap of faith (characteristic of the assassins).

How work Thousand Eyes contracts in Assassin's Creed Valhalla

The Thousand Eyes guild is a small stand that will be available in Ravensthorpe, but also in other cities in England. They will offer limited daily quests with opals and valuable items as a reward.

Exploration, a necessity to move forward quietly

If you are looking to increase your power properly, you will have to take an interest in the additional content of the game. The most interesting points are those which remain visible when you zoom out the map to 50%, they are also those which make it possible to complete the list at the bottom right of the screen, invaluable for trophy hunters. We recommend that you search for Artifacts if you are looking to improve your Power effectively. Between treasure maps, mysteries and rare materials, there are many reasons to go outside.

Upgrade your mount at the stable in Assassin's Creed Valhalla

Fortunately, horses are present in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Without them, journeys in the medieval outback would be much more tedious.

Two hands, endless possibilities

The battles of Valhalla highlight the possibility of making wacky weapon combinations, such as the double shield or the double heavy weapon. These combos are unlocked as you find your way through the skills tree: to play the big buggers , the heavy double weapon seems ideal and that's good, we have made a guide especially for you:

How to dual wield two two-handed weapons in Assassin's Creed Valhalla

In Assassin's Creed Valhalla, it's possible to equip yourself with two heavy weapons that are normally possible to handle with both hands. It's time to take a little tour through the skill tree to learn how to fight like a berserker!

Heal and rations

Bushes and mushrooms are your friends in the lands of England, or at least a large majority: certain varieties of mushroom will cause you damage, there would even be deadly species, if we refer to the tips given during loading times. To easily heal yourself during a tense fight, make sure you have filled up your ration, symbolized by a heart to the left of your life bar: a full gauge is 75% of healing to be consumed when you want it. Its ability is to improve in the inventory with basic resources, leather and iron ore: we recommend that you do it once as a priority before attacking your pieces of equipment, it's more comfort than appreciable during the many boss fights that dot the world.

How to get the Berserker Gear in Assassin's Creed Valhalla

If you're looking for the Berserker Gear that was given as a gift with the Ubisoft Connect or included in one of the collector editions of Assassin's Creed Valhalla, know that you can get it in the prologue of the game.

General tips

Here are a few additional tips that should help you get started and enjoy your trip:

  • Counter is a technique to master urgently: the damage caused by an attack after the extinction of the yellow bar of the enemy is considerable. The counter is very easy to master, with very generous timing.
  • Odin's Sight: the perfect way to enjoy wild life to make a nice reserve of leather while picking mushrooms.
  • The game is really full of secrets, and if most are indicated directly on the world map, the objectives are varied and very numerous: from the beast side quest to the most difficult bosses in the game, we recommend that you go through the category "mysteries" of each area.
  • The teleportation points are indicated by green icons on the world map: the famous observation towers represented by eagles are still there, but we must also add the ports, which come to fill the list and which allow to reach his crew in no time.
  • Like Geralt, Eivor can advance the time half a day through meditation. The option is found in the radal menu associated with the down direction of the multi-directional cross.
